Armless Octopus reviews Square Off

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Many thanks to Mike Wall at armlessoctopus.com for writing such a glowing review. Please have a read: http://www.armlessoctopus.com/2010/08/26/xbox-indie-review-square-off/

There are so many great quotes to put on our critical acclaim page so I’m still deciding which to use. For now I’m leaning towards “an extremely fun multiplayer experience that ranks up there with Castle Crashers, Bomberman Live and Rock Band.“.  :D

Square Off is an IGN Top Pick!

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

I can’t actually post links about this, but if you have a US gamertag, sign in with it to see Square Off getting some all important extra dashboard love. We’re in there at the 3rd spot which should give our sales a very nice kick.

We’re still planning to do a proper sales data analysis soon. This should provide another interesting point to talk about.

Veteran Gamers interview – A belated blog post

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

The other week I got together with BigDaddy and Quanrian to discuss life, indie games and Square Off. After some technical difficulties due to my internet (thanks Telstra) and timezone confusions (we were spread across UK, US and AUS), the end result is a half hour segment in their podcast. Have a listen here: http://www.veterangamers.co.uk/blog/?p=679

Square Off 1.1 Update Released!

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

You can view the whole press release, or if you just want the low down, the update includes:

  • One new coop / single player level. The game can now be completed (ie, this level does not continue on in a survival mode style like the rest of the levels)
  • Two new death match levels
  • Level statistics and cumulative profile statistics. These can be seen per weapon.
  • Added local only and friends only modes to the global scoreboards
  • A multitude of gameplay tweaks and bug fixes
  • Autofire option for those twinstick die hards who don’t like the trigger
  • Ship and boss AI improvements to make coop more interesting.
  • New and improved SFX and backing tracks

Thanks to all the fans and I hope you enjoy these new features. I know many people will be disappointed that there’s no online play or achievements – well, we had to save something big for the sequel ;)

Stay tuned to @GnomicStudios on twitter as we’ll be holding a couple of code competitions in the coming days.

[EDIT] As Josh says in the comments, you can now view the update trailer on GameTrailers.
